Uruguay Perdiz Hunting

The Perdiz are traced throughout the low brush fields of Uruguay farm land with the guidance of Pointers, Setters or Spaniels. The Uruguay Upland hunt is enjoyed by the leisurely sportsman and the work of the dogs makes it an exciting as well as classic game bird hunt. The Perdiz hunt is one bird hunting activity that is regulated by a definite season (begins May 1st and lasts until July 31st) and has a bag limit of 10 birds per day per hunter. The Perdiz hunting experience offers a great combination and challenging escape from high volume dove hunting. The Perdiz or official name, Spotted Tinamou, is very similar to the upland bird species of North America in terms of their size and body shape. URuguay perdiz do differ greatly in their flying behaviors and patterns and covey patterns. Most of these Upland birds are found in pairs and with the bird dog's assistance and behavior, you will witness the rapid wing beating action and quick shot into the sky. The Upland hunter must be prepared and with the well trained dogs and guidance of professional guides, the Perdiz hunt is a real pleasure hunt that will leave you with the bag limit and some new skills for shooting. The hunt is a walking bird hunt, but Uruguay is nice terrain and the beauty of the short grass makes the Upland hunting a favorite.
Many times the chef at the dove hunting lodge will prepare the Perdiz as an excellent appetizer. The meat is a tender, white meat that adds to the fondness of the Upland hunting in Uruguay.
Uruguay Perdiz hunting is available in combination with the dove hunting in Uruguay as well as duck hunting. Perdiz Hunting in Uruguay
Perdiz hunting does not require any special equipment. Los Gauchos Outfitters recommends comfortable shoes and with mother nature sometimes interfering with the perfect weather schedule, waterproof boots and a rain parka or jacket is recommended.

While the hunter orange is not a regulation for the Upland hunt in Uruguay - Los Gauchos puts safety first for all bird hunting activity. It is always a good idea to wear a hat with the orange or a shirt or vest. Many times you will share the fileld with other Perdiz hunters and a guide and bird hunting dogs.
