How do I get to Uruguay?
Flights into Uruguay arrive into Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. MVD is the airport code for the International Airport in Montevideo. Currently, American Airlines is the only airlines that provides a direct flight from Miami to Montevideo. The flight departs at 11 PM in the evening, making it covenient for travelers to get to Miami International before flying non-stop to Montevideo. Contact our office for flight information or assistance with making flight reservations to Uruguay.
You can also fly into Buenos Aires, and take the luxury boat to Colonia, Uruguay. A true sight to see and while you will see the large European influence, the pedistrian friendly town of Colonia is a treat and taking a quick 50 minute luxury boat ride with comfortable seats, wifi, food/drinks, shopping, the Buenos Aires - Colonia route is one that Los Gauchos dove hunters take advantage of more and more.
Uruguay Dove Hunting includes-how many days?
Uruguay dove hunting trips are typically 3 days in length, spread out over 4 days and 3 nights. Los Gauchos arranges for guests to arrive at 9 AM into Montevideo or Colonia and shoot in the afternoon. The next 2 days are high volume dove hunting and Uruguay Perdiz or pigeon hunting and the last morning spent dove hunting, pigeon hunting (over decoys) before departing Uruguay. During the Uruguay duck hunting season and Uruguay Perdiz hunting season, many opt to hunt 4 days, which allows you to experience the complete Uruguay mixed bag shoot.

Uruguay is one of the most democratic countries in South America. Uruguay has low corruption and the fairest wealth distribution of the South American countries. The political structure of Uruugay is made up of a republican system and with tourism as one of the main sources of income, Uruguay enjoys having tourists visit their country. Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay ahd holds half the country's population (1.5 million people). Gauchos have a long history in Argentina and Uruguay and of course Los Gauchos was designed and developed after the history of these hardworking, valuable cowboys. Gauchos are alive and well in Uruguay today and you will see them on horseback and berets herding sheep and cattle. The gauchos was once and still is the master of the land. Los Gauchos is by far the master of Uruguay hunting, whether it be Uruguay dove hunting, duck hunting, Perdiz hunting, or pigeon hunting. Where is Colonia? Is the Uruguay Dove Hunting good in Colonia?
Colonia is a historic town located just across the Rio Plate from Buenos Aires and has some of the best dove hunting in Uruguay. This small town is the only city of Portuguese origin. Easy to access from Buenos Aires by ferry (50 minute) and worth the visit. Uruguay dove hunting and Uruguay Perdiz hunting is amazing in Colonia and the European influence in Colonia have created a unique town and wonderful place to visit.

Can I bring my shotguns into Uruguay? What is the process for entering Uruguay with guns?
You may bring guns into Uruguay and Los Gauchos is happy to assist with forms and questions about traveling with shotguns. First, make sure you have a TSA approved gun case and lock to travel with your guns. If flying into Montevideo (MVD) you will be met at the airport and your license will be issued upon arrival. All forms are processed before you arrive and Los Gauchos requests Uruguay gun forms to be submitted 45 days prior to departure. See our link about the Uruguay gun form for help completing the form and submitting for an efficient and easy clearing process in Uruguay. If you are dove hunting in Colonia, Uruguay and will be arriving and departing from Buenos Aires, Argentina--you will need 2 licenses and have to pay 2 fees.

How many shells can I expect to shoot during a Uruguay dove hunt?
The typical number of shells one will shoot during a Uruguay dove hunt is a case to a case and a half per dove hunt. If the group decides to take on the Uruguay doves all day, then expect to go through about 3 cases if not more during a day of Uruguay dove hunting. Shells can be paid (and miles or points can be earned..) by paying for shells with a credit card. Please though check with Los Gauchos as this does NOT apply at all of the dove hunting locations.
